Music Technology Portfolio Requirements

Music Technology applicants must complete an audition and submit a statement of interest and portfolio of work in order to complete an application.  Once you apply to Virginia Tech using the Common App, you will receive a form to share a link to your portfolio.  We recommend submitting this material using an online file sharing repository such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer.  Please ensure the folder permissions are set so anyone with the link can view and download the files.  It is also recommended that the submission be containerized into a single package using Zip-compatible compression to ensure safe transit.

Your submission should include:

  • A brief (300–500 word) statement of interest expressing your goals and reasons for pursuing music recording and production studies at Virginia Tech

  • At least three examples of work in recording, mixing, sound design, audio for post-production, or music production

If you have any questions regarding these requirements or the music recording and production program in general, please contact Michael Dunston.
