Piano Audition Requirements
Audition Requirements
Auditioning students must perform a total of two pieces, consisting of one selection from the Baroque or Classical Era and one selection from the Romantic or Modern Era.
Suggested Repertoire
These are suggestions; students may select repertoire other than what is listed below.
Baroque:
- Johann Sebastian Bach: A Prelude and Fugue from The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1 or Book 2
- Classical Sonata: One allegro movement from any of the following:
- Franz Joseph Haydn: Keyboard Sonatas
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Sonatas
- Ludwig van Beethoven: Piano Sonatas
Romantic Character Pieces:
- Frédéric Chopin: Nocturnes, Etudes, Waltzes, Mazurkas, Preludes, or Impromptus
- Franz Liszt: Consolations, Liebesträume, Etudes, or Années de pèlerinage
