Read: Students honor luthier Daniel Foster with memorial concert

Daniel Foster (1943-2018) was a national award-winning luthier whose instruments are played by amateurs and professionals throughout the United States. He and his wife Elizabeth were generous supporters of the Virginia Tech music program and were key partners in developing the Virginia Tech String Project.

This concert is dedicated to the memory of Daniel, and will highlight his sextet of violins, violas and cellos donated to the Music Department. The program will include J.S. Bach’s Brandenburg Concert #3, Popper’s Requiem for Three Cellos and Brahms' Sextet in B Flat Major. Members of the chamber music class of John Irrera and Alan Weinstein will perform, assisted by Richard Masters, piano.
