Rebekah Dawn has worked as an actor, dancer, singer, devisor, choreographer, director, and teaching artist across the Western States and Australia. She received an MFA in Theatre Performance from Arizona State University and a BA in Theatre and Dance from California State University, Sacramento. She specializes in psychological realism and psychophysical actor training techniques, movement based practices, dance/theatre mediums, and creating original work. For her thesis project she conducted the ethnographic research for, and produced, directed, choreographed, and designed the creation of, a devised dance/theatre show about the cross-cultural similarities, disparities, and resilience of the WWII war bride immigration experience. Past notable experiences include being the first American to tour devised issue based educational theatre with a company based in Perth, Australia, creating an original solo show about her own grandmother’s WWII war bride immigration experience which received the Highest Ticketing Average award at the Seattle Fringe Festival in 2017, and directing the Audience Choice Award winning show for Collab24’s inaugural national 24 hour devising festival. This past year she was based in NYC, where she appeared in The Indigo Room at La Mama ETC., and the HOT! Festival at Dixon Place.
