4th Annual Genesis Film Festival

The Genesis Film Festival takes place annually in Blacksburg, Virginia, hosted by the “Cinema at Virginia Tech” club. The festival aims to provide a platform for students at Virginia Tech to show their work to the community. Genesis seeks to uplift student filmmakers producing thought-provoking content showcasing a diverse range of styles, genres, and interests.

Interested in Submitting a Film?

Rules and Terms:

  • 12 – minute max.
  • Submissions are open to Virginia Tech students only.
  • Films must be in English or have English subtitles.
  • We must have a link to your film so we can review it (Must be 1080p). Hard copies and/or files that require download will not be considered. However, if your film is selected for screening, we will contact you for a high-quality, downloadable copy.
  • Films must be the original work of the applicants. If a film is based upon another person’s life or upon a book or other underlying work, applicant(s) must secure any necessary rights to make such adaptations. However, it is not necessary to submit the adaptation rights agreements to the festival. Neither the Festival nor its jurists investigate or attest to the authenticity of an applicant’s statement of authorship or rights secured. By entering the competition, you represent that you have secured all necessary rights.
  • We reserve the right to use stills, posters, and descriptions for promotional purposes.
  • Audience votes on Overall Fan Favorite for winner.
Submit your Short Film by April 20!

Visitors to the Blacksburg campus Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. will need to display a parking permit, utilize the ParkMobile app, pay the daily charge for a pass, or pay for parking using an hourly meter. A range of parking options can be found here.

All campus parking, including along Alumni Mall, requires a parking permit from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., unless otherwise noted by signage.
