About the Event
Virginia Tech and the Town of Blacksburg’s Summer Arts Festival proudly presents From the Heart: Beethoven Piano Works with Hsiang Tu!
Praised by The New York Times for his “eloquent sensitivity,” The Boston Intelligencer for his “impeccable technique,” and Fanfare for his “Chameleon-like ability to move between composers,” pianist Hsiang Tu has graced the audience with his wide range of repertoire and creative programming. Current projects include “The Ivory Menagerie” - a full-length recital with music inspired by animals that The Utah Review called “ingeniously crafted” -and the complete cycle of piano solo works by Maurice Ravel.
Born in Taipei, Taiwan, he debuted in New York at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center as the winner of the Juilliard School Concerto Competition and has performed in venues all over the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Jordan Hall in Boston, National Museum Cardiff, the Leeds University Great Hall, Conservatoire Superieur de Paris, Sendai Youth Cultural Centre in Japan, and the National Recital Hall in Taipei.
