Scott Hanenberg is a musician, teacher, writer, and audio engineer.
Hanenberg holds a PhD in Music Theory from the University of Toronto. His dissertation explores how rock drummers navigate irregular time signatures. His research is published in Music Theory Online and Music Theory Spectrum and is forthcoming in the Cambridge Companion to the Drum Kit. Scott has given papers at conferences across North America.
His experience as an audio engineer comes from his work at the Toronto-based Grayson Matthews, where he served as voice-over engineer, mixing and mastering engineer for music licensing, and assistant composer. He has worked as an arranger and orchestrator with artists like Megan Bonnell and Daniella Nardi; he has performed and recorded with The C'mons and has released an EP under his own name entitled "Darn That Dream."
