We are proud to provide small class sizes to maximize student-teacher interaction. Our music, theatre, and cinema faculty work closely with our students to ignite a true passion for learning. We believe that as artists we must also be engaged citizens, working in and with our community.
We present over 150 public events each year – ranging from fully-mounted contemporary theatre productions to experimental interdisciplinary pieces, and from large symphonic concerts to documentary and narrative film. We host more than 30 nationally and internationally known guest artists in residencies every year.
While we take joy in our work, we also take your education seriously. All of our degrees are accredited by their disciplinary accrediting body (the National Association of Schools of Music or the National Association of Schools of Theatre).
We have a strong faculty filled with award-winning teachers. They have built a reputation among students for being approachable and engaging. We are proud to provide small class sizes to maximize student-teacher interaction. Our faculty work closely with our students to ignite a true passion for learning.
Internships provide students with real-world experience, making them more competitive in the job market after graduation.
In addition to scholarships offered by the university and the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design, we offer performing arts scholarships to our students.
Ensembles are a key component of the curriculum and a great way to bring your music to Virginia Tech.
Studying abroad offers you an extraordinary learning experience. Our trips vary by year; you can also participate in university sponsored study abroad opportunities that complement your program of study.
We host a variety of events including film series at the Lyric, guest speakers, and socials. You can also get involved in many existing events and opportunities.
