The Virginia Tech Philharmonic, under the direction of Mathias Elmer, performs their spring concert.

The Virginia Tech Philharmonic Orchestra (VTPhil) is excited to have the opportunity to share a program of great music by Beethoven, Haydn, Florence Price, and Dvořák. This concert marks the full orchestra’s first performance since 2019 and the start of the pandemic.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, student musicians at Virginia Tech have had to adapt to rehearsing socially distanced, with masks and bell covers, and in thirty-minute time intervals. These precautions, however, have allowed us to rehearse safely and present a program we would be proud of in normal circumstances.

The concert was recorded on April 22, 2021 in the Commonwealth Ballroom at Virginia Tech. Special thanks to music faculty member Michael Dunston and his music technology students.
