Daryl Norman Soh, 2025 M.F.A. Candidate (Lighting Design)

DaryI sees himself as a storyteller - in which lighting is his medium of expression, to convey moods, messages and stories. He also sees himself as a collaborator, strongly believing that in theatre one of the most valuable attributes of a designer is their ability to communicate openly and effectively with all involved - this being the best way to bring any vision to fruition.

Selected lighting design credits include: Festival Designer for SeptFest: In the Margins for The Substation; Virginia Tech Theatre: Sleep Deprivation Chamber, H*tler’s Tasters, and Describe The Night ; Sylvia for Pachyderm Theatre ; The Wrong Geng 2.0 for Norhaizad Adam as part of Esplanade Presents: Pesta Raya 2022 ; Vassa for LASALLE College of The Arts ; InterSpace for Ricky Sim as part of Esplanade Huayi Festival ; Peter & Blue’s Forest Adventures, Peter & Blue Go Around The World & Peter & Blue’s School Holiday for Singapore Ballet ; Jiwang, ArtScience Late: Belon for P7:1SMA ; How I Learned To Drive for Wag the Dog Theatre, and Pallavi Through Abstractions for CHOWK Productions as part of Esplanade Kalaa Festival, featured in The Straits Times Life section on the 25th of November 2020.

Daryl was also a Staff Electrician at The Santa Fe Opera for their 2023 summer season and was very delighted to be part of the community at the Opera.
