Philharmonic Orchestra (CRN 88278)
The Virginia Tech Philharmonic Orchestra
The Virginia Tech Philharmonic Orchestra (VTPhil) is Virginia Tech's symphony orchestra, made up of music majors and non-majors from across the university. It is a twenty-first-century symphony orchestra focusing on standard repertoire as well as on works from underrepresented composers on a high artistic level.
Our world-class faculty are regularly invited to work with the orchestra in sectional rehearsals and to perform as soloists. The most recent season included guest conductor Steven White, Artistic Director at Opera Roanoke, conducting Mahler's Symphony No. 1 in D major in the Moss Arts Center. Past seasons have seen renowned soloists, many of them former Virginia Tech students.
Please reach out to the director of Orchestral Activities, Mathias Elmer if you have any questions.
