Michael Noble, DMA, is “a pianist with an admirable ability to serve the music at times with the subtlety of a master chamber music player, and also at times to blaze forth with commanding virtuosity and to carry [audiences] to dramatic climaxes” (Lyn Bronson, Peninsula Reviews).

Noble has won awards in numerous international competitions, including the Carmel Music Society Competition, Crescendo Music Awards, and The Plowman Chamber Music Competition. He has been described as “a pianist to remember” (Het Nieuwsblad) and “exceptional” (New York Concert Review).

Most recently, Noble garnered nominations for Best Classical Artist and Best Classical Song at the 2024 Wammie Music Awards, the D.C. metro area’s counterpart to the GRAMMYs.

Michael holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree and two master’s degrees from the Yale School of Music. He also earned a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, graduating cum laude from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, respectively. Additionally, he attended the Paris Conservatoire and the Royal Ghent Conservatory, where he was a Fellow of the Belgian American Educational Foundation.

A multifaceted artist, Michael possesses a keen interest in a wide range of music genres — from Gregorian chant to electronic dance music — and often experiments with different styles in his programs. His second album, Ascension, juxtaposes an original composition, and multiple transcriptions alongside both modern and early works.

A passionate advocate of new music, Michael has commissioned pieces by Claude Ledoux and Jesse Limbacher, and he is widely recognized as a leading interpreter of Frederic Rzewski’s works.

His 2024-25 season features recitals, lectures, and masterclasses across Thailand, along with solo performances at Klavierhaus (NYC), in Brussels, Belgium, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. This season also includes residencies at Georgetown University, Virginia Tech, Denison University, and Marshall University, along with the release of his third album, Silver Screen, which features works by Philip Glass, Max Richter, and Ólafur Arnalds.

Michael is on faculty at Levine Music. He is a Voting Member of The Recording Academy (the Grammys) and is represented by BMI.
