Jessie S. Yee Memorial Prize Composition Competition
The Jessie S. Yee Memorial Prize recognizes outstanding original works of any genre or medium by student composers across every department of Virginia Tech. Each year, submissions are adjudicated by a panel of music faculty and the winning composer of the Yee Memorial Commission. First, second, and third place winners are awarded a monetary prize supporting their continued artistic development.
The prize is funded by Virginia Tech Associate Professor of Chemistry Gordon Yee, in honor of his mother Jessie S. Yee, an avid supporter of the arts. Through this annual award, Gordon celebrates Jessie's legacy by supporting students who cultivate creativity alongside their academic and professional goals.
Congratulations to the 2026 Jessie S. Yee Memorial Prize winners!
