Save the date for VT Summer Strings 2026!

June 12-14, 2026
Registration opens February 1, 2026

Calling all high school string players! Join us on campus for a mini-residential string camp June 12-14. VT Summer Strings is a great opportunity for high school violin, viola, cello, and double bass players to:

  • Hone your playing skills
  • Participate in chamber music
  • Read new string orchestra music
  • Explore the convergence of music and technology
  • Experience audio spatialization of your chamber music group's music
  • Work in VT's audio lab, creating a 3D, immersive sound environment
  • Have the experience of living on a college campus
  • Meet new high school-age musicians and make friends over music
  • Study with Virginia Tech music faculty and professional musicians and staff, including counselors and educators, to make it a great weekend

Camp information

How do I register?
Registration information is coming soon. 

Who can attend?
Rising 9th-12th graders who have had a minimum of two years of instruction on violin, viola, cello, or double bass. If you aren't yet old enough for camp, keep working and practicing hard in orchestra, and we will see you soon! 

What is the cost, and what does it cover?
VT Summer Strings costs $450 and covers all meals during camp, housing in the VT dorms, camp staff background checks and safety training, VT Youth Protection Compliance, t-shirts, music, supplies and equipment, and online registration fees. A portion of camp tuition also goes towards compensating counselors and camp administrative staff.
