Brooke McCarthy is an actor, singer, dancer, creator, teacher, producer, and solo artist from Philadelphia via New Jersey. She holds an M.F.A. in Acting from the University of Georgia and a B.S. in Accounting with Minors in Musical Theatre and Italian from Monmouth University.

McCarthy specializes in solo performance creation, ensemble-based collaboration, physical acting methods, and Meisner technique. Her research focuses on creating new work with an emphasis on sociocultural awareness and community building. As an artist, she strives to deconstruct social norms by embracing discomfort through authentic storytelling to inspire positive social change.

As a solo performer, McCarthy’s notable awards include Best Selling Show in NYC’s Frigid Festival, Best of Fest at the Hartford Fringe Festival, Philly Fringie (aka an Audience Choice Award) at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, and Spirit of the Fringe at the St. Louis Fringe Festival.

Past notable theater performances include regional productions at Aurora Theater & UGA (Niagara Falls), and Broadway Theater of Pitman (Shrek, Can-Can, and Return of the Phantom); international productions in Italy (Peas, Patalin, & Purgation); comedic productions (Philly Improv Theatre).

Sylvia Pannell Student Travel Award, 2019, $725
Award granted to support one graduate student-artist’s international travel expenses. UGA’s production of Peas, Pierre Patelin, and Purgation was invited to perform for the sixteenth triennial colloquium of the Société Internationale pour l’Étude du Théâtre Médiéval in Genoa, Italy. Award aided in attendance to the weeklong conference and festival of medieval theater to learn from subject area experts and observe other approaches to similar material.
